Final Blog Post

Music is part of everyone’s daily life, from listening to music to your drive to work or school to listening to music while you work out or while doing work. People listen to music daily. Most music streaming brands are just streaming popular artists while Global Beats target small musicians in developing countries.

Music helps people lower anxiety levels and who doesn’t want to help out people when listening to good music. Global beats allows people to listen to good quality music while helping out some by giving them a job and money.

Global beats has multiple portable recording studios that will travel to developing countries to give the artists a chance to record and publish their music in our app. Global Beats wants to help the musicians make a name for themselves and to help them start to make a living doing what they love.

Our main competitors are Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud. Currently they are the most popular and highest streamed apps.

For pricing, we were looking at having a one time purchase of 4.99 dollars in the app store, then a optional ad free subscription of 9.99 dollars a month. Another source of income for us is ads. An expense we are going to have is the portable recording studio which would cost us around 7,000 dollars.

We also plan to expand to more countries to help more low income musicians. We plan to partner up with popular artists to share our name and to get to people to use our app. We want to keep our app for helping out low income musicians and not turn into one of the larger streaming apps that only share popular artists or top hits.

During an Innovation night, we presented to a group of individuals that were “investors”. Once we finished presenting, the audience was allowed to ask question or respond with guidance and we received better ways to improve this business idea. We have taken those ideas in hope to make our app a big hit.

The product we are selling is an app for musicians in developing countries. The plan is to build music studios in developing countries for the musically gifted to share what they love and to give them a well paying job.

Competition –

Through our research we haven’t found any critical competitors in our market. However, we do have some competition for music streaming apps. The main competitors we have is Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Amazon Music. The difference between us and our competitors is that we are aiming to help people in developing countries while trying to expand the listeners music tastes. Our competitors goals are to share popular music from popular artists.

When it comes down to choosing a streaming platform to listen to, is where we are similar to the other streaming apps.

The difference between us and the more popular streaming apps is that we are trying to help artists in developing countries make a name for themselves in the music industry and to help kick start their music careers. It gives the artist a job and some income. The customers get to listen to good music while helping out a good cause. It’s a better solution for the artist because they can make more money making music than a normal job. For the customer, it is a cheaper option to listen to good music. The artist’s need to learn our system and then create their music. The customer just has to subscribe to the app. The behavior change we are looking for is changing from using Apple Music or Spotify to use our program. It will be hard to change the behaviors at first, but once a few people change their behavior, then everyone will change.

Proctor Academy Posters.

My team chose to sell custom posters of Proctor Academy’s campus, sport events, and photos from the customer. I was hoping it was going to be a big hit since Proctor has changed the rules for wall decor in rooms and now isn’t allowing any cloth or fabric material on the walls. I was in fact not as popular as I thought, we have a few orders in for custom photos.

Customers will email us when they want a poster and if they want a custom poster. If they want a custom poster, they will send the photo they want turned into a poster and the payment. We then edit it to look more minimalistic. Once it is edited we meet with the customer to see if they like our edits. If the customer does like the edits, we then send it to the printer. Once it is printed, we will meet with the customer to hand over the poster

An example of a poster we created.

In the next few weeks we should get more orders in and we can start making profit for this business idea.

Social Enterprise Problem and Solution Blog #2

I developed a business strategy with my group members to promote music from musicians that live in developing countries. The issue we are attempting to solve is the international elimination of unemployment.

We want to help artists who don’t have enough money so they can get their name out and hopefully make it big. Our idea was derived from Spotify and SoundCloud. The business name is ‘Global Hits’. The major goal of this project is to assist foreigners in making music. People would need to create an account and pay a predetermined sum of money. We would utilize that money to build studios for those who desire to create music but are unable to do so due to a lack of funds or resources.

We plan on partnering up with producing companies to help the artists create their music. We will also partner up with companies that make the equipment that the artists need. To add more artists to the app we will have a form on the app or in paper for the future artists to be added to our app. We will then travel to them with a crew and hopefully produce a beautiful piece of music.
